Category: WEF (not including WEFTEC)

WEF’s 2018 Odors and Air Pollutants 2018 Conference will be held March 25 – 28 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, in cooperation with the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association.

This conference will once again bring together environmental professionals from around the world for a showcase on odors and air pollutants management. The biennial Odor Conference is designed to educate practitioners, facility owners, operators, researchers, and public administrators about current odor issues, including regulatory requirements and methods for analyzing problems and finding solutions.

Targeting the Pacific Northwest, the 2018 Odors and Air Pollutants Conference is designed to foster informed decision-making, networking to share effective control of odors and air pollutants, and innovative approaches. The conference's technical program includes both real-life experiences and lessons learned as well as cutting- edge technologies and research. The conference will include oral presentations, interactive discussions, posters, a pre-conference workshop, exhibits, mobile sessions, and several opportunities for networking in dynamic settings. Potential speakers are invited to submit an abstract for podium presentation, poster, workshop, or mobile exhibitor floor session. Abstracts addressing the following topics are invited:

  • Odor Measurement, Monitoring, and Performance

  • Air Dispersion Modeling

  • Collection System Odor Control

  • Biological Odor Control

  • Corrosion Control

  • Sustainability and Greenhouse Gases

  • Innovative Treatment Approaches

  • Agricultural/Industrial Odor Control

  • Odor Control Problems and Practical Solutions

  • Utility Odor Management and Planning

  • Community Relations and Odor Complaints

  • Odor/Air Research and Optimization

Several criteria will be used to evaluate the abstracts, including originality, project status (in progress or completed), technical merit, significance to the industry, and overall quality. Abstracts should be a maximum equivalent of two pages in length including tables and figures. Abstracts must be submitted via the online system no later than close of business on September 7, 2017. Selected abstract authors will be notified in late October and will need to complete a final manuscript. Manuscripts will be reviewed and subject to revision or rejection if lacking in quality. In accordance with Federation policy, accepted authors who do not submit a final manuscript by the required deadline will be removed from the program.

Presenters are expected to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee. No travel or assistance funds are available for speakers.

The Conference Steering Committee is also soliciting for workshop and session proposals and mobile session presentations. For more information, please see the conference website at wef.org/OdorsAir.
