The PNCWA 2021 Conference undoubtedly made several changes in how we chose to meet. One of the most notable ways the conference evolved was by reallocating the money spent on attendee swag, which often has a high carbon footprint. Instead, we asked attendees to select one of these worthy causes to give the money to:
- The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, whose Director served as PNCWA 2021's keynote speaker
- The Bonneville Environment Foundation to provide carbon offsets for flights to the conference
- Water For People, an organization with which PNCWA has a longstanding supportive relationship
Based on the number of votes for each organization, PNCWA was able to purchase carbon offsets for the roundtrip flights attendees took to the conference and make sizable contributions to both the Wassmuth Center and Water for People. We are grateful for our attendees’ enthusiasm around putting this money toward a greater purpose.
