Pat Brown Memorial Scholarship

The Idaho Sections (Southwest Idaho Section of PNCWA, Southeast Idaho Section of PNCWA, North Idaho Section of PNCWA) established this scholarship in honor of Pat Brown in the amount of $1,500. This scholarship is intended for an operator seeking a 1-year certification program or a student enrolled in a 2-year program. This scholarship will be awarded in the amount necessary for the program in which the applicant is enrolled up to $1,500.

Pat who passed away in 2018 was a long-time water and wastewater instructor/educator who put on countless training classes for water and wastewater operators throughout the state of Idaho. Pat was also a past President of PNCWA. 

Pat Brown Memorial Scholarship Requirements

  • The applicant must enroll as a full-time student (by September of the award year) that allows them to pursue a professional career as an operator in the water environment field.
  • Applicant must be attending or accepted to enroll in either a 1-year certification program or a 2-year institution pursuing an Associate’s degree. (If you are a high school senior who has not yet been accepted at a program you must provide the names of the programs to which you have applied.)
  • Official proof or transcript of grades from high school or college.
  • Essay on career goals related to the water environment.
  • A minimum of two letters of recommendation—one must be from a teacher or professor, the other must be from someone not related to the applicant.
  • Must be a resident of Idaho, Oregon, or Washington, with a preference to Idaho residents.
  • May be attending or plan to attend a school outside of Oregon, Washington, or Idaho as long as permanent address (i.e. parent's address) is in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho.

  • Academic Potential: Grade Point Average and type/difficulty of courses taken
  • Letters of Recommendation/Reference
  • Experience pertaining to or related to the water/wastewater/environmental field
