Water for People Committee

The Water For People Committee develops activities to engage PNCWA members in educational activities for Water For People, including contributions to that international non-profit organization, Water For People.

Across the globe, 2.4 billion people don’t have access to adequate sanitation and 1.8 billion people don’t have access to safe water. The mission of Water For People is to change those statistics by engaging communities to develop sustainable water and sanitation services. Their goal is to provide these services to “Everyone Forever” – access to clean water and sanitation for Everyone, and sustainable solutions so that those services outlast the organization. Water For People currently has programs in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Bolivia, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, and India.

The PNCWA Water For People committee raises awareness and encourages support of the Water for People programs. The PNCWA Water For People Committee focuses efforts at the PNCWA Annual Conference. At the 2014 Conference we started a new PNCWA tradition, by turning wine into Water for People through a blind wine raffle. We co-hosted a golf tournament with the Scholarship Committee in 2016 and also asked for donations throughout the conference to honor WFP’s 25th Year Anniversary, and WFP CEO, Eleanor Allen, spoke at the opening session. Learn more about Water For People.

Beer for Us, Water For Everyone - PNCWA Committee Supporting Water For People

The PNCWA WFP Committee and Optimism Brewing partnered for fun and a great cause. The Beer for Water event was successful in raising $477 for Water For People, and also gave PNCWA's newly re-minted Water For People Committee the proverbial shot in the arm. Thanks to Halley Kimball of the City of Everett for organizing the event, Optimism Brewing for hosting it,  and Kelsey Harpham, HDR Engineering, PNCWA WFP Committee Chair. Continue
