Operator Training/Certification/Continuing Education Scholarship

Operators in the Umpqua Basin Operators Section (UBOS) established this scholarship for operators in the three-state region of the PNCWA. Continuing funding is primarily provided by Operators in Sections throughout the three-state region. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide funding for individuals – primarily operators currently employed in the wastewater sector – to seek additional water sector education, training, and/or certification in the industry or to advance their professional knowledge, skill set or licensure.

Applications will be accepted throughout the entire year until the maximum funding amount has been awarded. After the funding for the year has been reached, the scholarship will be closed until the next year.

Scholarship Requirements and Criteria:

• Individuals seeking entry-level operator’s license
• An entry-level or experienced operator seeking professional development in the following areas:
• Municipal wastewater treatment
• Water Reuse
• Sanitary Sewer Collection

Complete the online application including a brief essay on your experience and career goals.

Funding through this scholarship will support the following activities:

• Continuing education
• Training
• College classes
• Online courses
• Independent study courses
• Water Professional Conferences
• License application cost

Education for Operators Scholarship Selection Criteria:

• Career Objectives and Environmental Interest Essay
• Extracurricular Activities: Demonstrating leadership or participation in programs and organizations
• Letters of Recommendation/Reference
• Experience pertaining to or related to the water/wastewater/environmental field
